Absolute Italy · Riva del Carbon
A gondola for up to five people from the Carbon station on the Riva del Carbon, right beside the Rialto Bridge, out along the Grand Canal and back through the inner canals. Pick it for a fixed time slot at the bridge itself, booked before you travel.

Of the eleven tours on this site, this is the one gondola that really starts at Rialto. The Carbon station sits on the Riva del Carbon, the San Marco bank just south of the bridge, opposite a Coop supermarket and marked by a big green structure with plants. You get the boat to yourselves for 45 minutes, out under the bridge on the Grand Canal and back through the narrow canals of San Marco.
Now the price. $321 buys one boat for 45 minutes. At the same station, the official city tariff is EUR 90 for 30 minutes by day plus EUR 40 for each extra 20 minutes, so about EUR 130 for 50 minutes; at night it's EUR 110 for 35 minutes. Several guests say outright that walking up was cheaper, and they are right. What you pay extra for is a guaranteed slot, a fixed price in your own currency, and no haggling. The listing also excludes commentary: some gondoliers chat and sing, others don't.
The 3.8 rating comes from a few repeated problems. Guests on older bookings report rides of 25 to 35 minutes because the clock started at check-in, gondoliers on the phone, no singing when they expected it, and one no-show in July 2024. The listing's own blurb is also muddled: it mentions Campo San Moisè and six passengers, while the meeting point and rules say Carbon and five. Go by the meeting point. Recent reviews (2024 to 2026) are mostly positive, with praise for the central, queue-free station.

★★★★★The meet up location is very central, right next to Rialto bridge, and it is easy to find. There were no lines (we saw some very long ones at other gondola pick ups) and we even took our time taking pictures before the tour started.
★★★★★Great experience. Elias was excellent as a guide and driver. Beautiful small canals. Comfortable gondola.
★★★★★Our group of 12 folks reserved three gondolas for one hour at Sunset! It’s the way to go! Less crowded and cooler!

The listing excludes explanations during the ride. Some gondoliers point out palazzi anyway; others stay quiet. If you want commentary, book a guided option.
No, five per gondola is the city rule. Larger groups book several gondolas, as one reviewer's party of 12 did with three boats.
