Bucintoro Viaggi · San Marco Giardinetti
A guide and up to twelve guests ride a water taxi from San Marco up the whole Grand Canal to the Scalzi bridge and back, passing under the Rialto Bridge both ways. Pick it for the cheapest guided hour on the canal, and only if you can sit outside.

The listing calls it a panoramic tour, and guests are blunt about what that means: a water taxi. You meet at the Alilaguna ticket office at San Marco Giardinetti, opposite the Illy café by the Royal Gardens, and ride up the Grand Canal past the Salute, the Guggenheim, the Accademia, Ca' Rezzonico, the Rialto Bridge and the Ca' d'Oro to the Scalzi bridge by the station, then back. Departures are at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 pm, and the later ones catch the low light on the palazzi.
The 3.2 from 83 reviews is the lowest on this site, and the reviews say why. A water taxi has about six open seats at the back and on deck; everyone else sits in the cabin, behind small windows that guests have found dirty. A 2025 guest reported the guides taking two of the outside seats. Guides range from excellent (Elena, Alberto) to bored. On top of that there are late boats, a tour cut to 45 or 50 minutes, a Spanish booking delivered in English, and 2024 reports of overbooking and two no-shows.
It still has fans: guests with groups of three to nine, an outside seat and a good guide call it a fine first-day overview. For $52 you can also do the same route alone on vaporetto line 1 for EUR 9.50, without the commentary. If the budget stretches, the Grand Canal boat tour has eight seats, and a 4.7 rating.
San Marco Giardinetti vaporetto stop, opposite the Illy café by the Royal Gardens.
Salute, Guggenheim, Accademia, Ca' Rezzonico, then under the Rialto Bridge and past the Ca' d'Oro.
The boat turns near the station and the Scalzi bridge.
Under Rialto again and down to the Giardinetti.
★★★★★Small group meant small group, only 9 in total on our tour. The time of day was perfect (18.30pm) and the tour was an hour which was just enough time to experience the Grand Canal in all its spendor.
★★★★★We had a very small group so it was easy to see everything and ask any questions we had. Elena was very informative.
★★★★★The guide was very knowledgable about the city and its buildings as well as suggesting placed to go visit after the tour.

A water taxi (motor launch), not a panoramic sightseeing boat. A few seats are outside; the rest are in a covered cabin with small windows.
Yes, twice: on the way up to the Scalzi bridge and on the way back down to San Marco.

It adds a guide and a smaller boat. Line 1 runs the same route, stopping at Rialto, for EUR 9.50 on a 75-minute ticket. Our vaporetto guide explains it.
